James Vespasian Burleson:
A Remarkable NC Entrepreneur
by Donald K Burleson
This book explores the family history of James Vespasian Burleson (“Pace”) who was born in 1870 in North Carolina. Along with his wife, Corinna “Fanny from Big Lick” he raised five children while earning a modest living as an entrepreneur during the Southern reconstruction period following the Civil War. In keeping with the Burleson clan’s history of service and patriotism, both of Pace’s sons were decorated for heroism while serving in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.
