Louise Burleson is the daughter of two families firmly rooted in the mountains of North Carolina. Her ancestors were in what is now the Buncombe County area by the first census of the United States. They settled in and made North Carolina their home. She often jokes that she is probably related to anyone with family from the Asheville area. She lived in Florida for most of her adult life but has now returned to North Carolina.
Louise began exploring her family heritage in the early 1990s and an entertaining pastime became an obsession after retirement. Anyone who gets into genealogy knows that you are never done. This book was supposed to be the end of her work but recent forays into DNA research has pulled her back in. She hopes to have a sequel to this book in the future.
